Statistics from the 2020 BECE results released by WAEC indicate an increase in Examination malpractices between 2019 and 2020.

173 candidates had their subject results cancelled while 19 candidates had their entire results cancelled in 2019.

417 candidates had their subject results cancelled, while 44 had their entire results cancelled in 2020.

Reacting to this, the Executive Director of Africa Education Watch Kofi Asare attributed the rise in exam malpractices to WAEC’s loose screening process at examination halls and failure to appreciate the loopholes created by technological advancement.

Mr. Asare called on WAEC to digitize its systems and do away with the manual transportation of question papers to examination centers.
