The European Union (EU) says its observers would keep a keen eye on the February 16 polls in Nigeria.

The assurance comes a day after an ally of President Buhari warned against foreign interference.

Governor of the Northern State of Kaduna, Nasir El-Rufai, on Wednesday issued a threat that foreigners who seek to intervene in the country’s election would go back in body bags.

The governor made the comments during a TV discussion programme, when the issue of the international community’s role in the elections was raised.

The European Union, the U.S and the United Kingdom have earlier expressed concerns over the suspension of Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen, for allegedly breaching the asset-declaration rules.
