Former President Jerry John Rawlings has commended the government for the timely response to the omission of some important roads in the Volta Region in the 2020 budgetary allocations.

In a tweeted message, the former president hopes urgent attention will be given to the more critical stretches in the region.

Former President Jerry Rawlings  on Thursday, November 14,  2019 on his travel to Ho to console the family of the regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Henry Ametefe, on the death of his wife, pulled over at Sokode to express his disappointment over the state of the road.

The Finance Minister in his presentation of the 2020 budget statement to parliament, said  2020 is ‘The Year of Roads.’

However, Volta region was not captured in the budget; this made the minority in a press conference register their displeasure and outrage at the Government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for deliberately neglecting  the Volta Region on the list of ‘Critical regional road projects programmed for construction in 2020’ as contained on pages 160 and 161 of the Budget and Financial Policy of the Government of Ghana for the year ending December 31, 2020 which was presented to Parliament on behalf of the President by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
