Legal practitioner, Austin Kwabena Brako-Powers has cautioned that attempts to extradite former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta without strictly observing due process are likely to fail.

Speaking on GTV’s Current Agenda, Mr. Brako-Powers said extradition is not a simple administrative process and cannot be achieved merely by public declarations or media pressure.
He noted that while some had suggested initiating proceedings without the physical presence of the former minister, others insisted on securing his presence before continuing, a situation he said resulted in delays and confusion.
“Extradition does not work in the background. You cannot assume that by making requests, the process will automatically succeed,” he stated.
According to him, extradition proceedings require strict adherence to established legal frameworks, particularly when involving foreign jurisdictions such as the United States.
