‘Fake nurse’ jailed 22 months for NSS fraud

The Madina District Magistrate Court has sentenced one Francis Awine Anaafo, 32, to twenty-two months imprisonment for defrauding by false pretenses and impersonation.

Anaafo is said to have stolen the identity of one Simon Yaw Wole who is a qualified Nursing Practitioner, to register for his National Service, and was subsequently posted to the Goaso Municipal Hospital in September, 2018.

Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana on the issue, PRO of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Nana Boateng Agyeman said the accused was arrested after his supervisor called for investigations into his credentials when concerns were raised about his performance.

Mr. Boateng Agyeman insisted that his organisation operates a strong system.
