The Food and Drugs Authority, FDA, says it has recalled the food supplement, Centre Of Awareness Food Supplement, COA FS, from the market due to health risks it poses to the consuming public.
The Head of Public Affairs of the FDA in an interview with Radio Ghana’s Naa Atswei Sowah said samples have been tested and conducted on the said product.
The samples were found to contain Escherichia coli (E.Coli) which causes diarrhoea, gastroenteritis, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.
Those in possession of the product are being directed to return the product to the manufacturer, place of purchase or any of the FDA offices across the country.
COA FS is a dietary supplement prepared to support the Human Immune System.
The Head of Public Affairs of the FDA said this was done in order to protect the health and safety of consumers and thus ensure that contaminated products do not flood the markets.
