The 2019 edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFAC) has been launched in Koforidua.

The festival which is celebrated every two years was postponed to coincide with the Year of Return to showcase the rich culture of Ghanaians to the outside world. It will begin from November 8 to 15 in Koforidua.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Dr. Ziblim Iddi said NAFAC is to create a permissible platform to promote the cultural diversity of the country for national development.

He said the youth who constitute a vital part of the population are usually swayed by unnecessary fantasies from the west which is detrimental to development.

Mr. Ziblim said there is the need for extensive dialogue on ways of putting the youth back on track for employment generation and wealth creation through culture, tourism and creative arts.

Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Samuel Ayertey said government’s commitment to address the unemployment challenges is evident in the number of initiatives enrolled. He said there are potential and opportunities for youth employment in the tourism industry that can be harnessed for the country’s socio-economic development.
