First Lady inaugurates refurbished medical centre at La in Accra

The First Lady Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo has handed over the refurbished La Mansaamo Kpee medical center to the people of La.

The community initiated project will provide laboratory and diagnostic services to the people of La at a minimal cost to residents.

This is aside from the antenatal and public health service the facility has been providing for years.

Speaking at the Commissioning in Accra, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo said reduction of maternal and infant deaths should be the focus of the health agenda of any nation.

The commissioning of the facility coincided with the anniversary of La Mansaamo Kpee which has in the last forty years taken steps to improve sanitation and the general wellbeing of the community.

The Medical facility is one of its initiatives funded by members themselves.

According to the first Lady Mrs Rebecca Akufo Addo, such initiatives are commendable since government cannot do it all despite the efforts being made.

Chairman of the group, Amarkai Amarteifio, was hopeful the facility will grow into a hospital that will research into medicine and called on indigenes of La to support the initiative.

Among the many achievements of La Mansaamo Kpee is the contruction of the La Community Bank, La Community clinic and the Justice Nii Amaa Ollennu Memorial Basic School.
