The fumigation of markets and other public places is to be extended nationwide to reduce the spread of Corona Virus.

Markets such as Agbobgloshie, Kantamanto, Malata, Kaneshie and other markets under the AMA will be closed for fumigation Monday as a means to reduce community spread of COVID-19.

Currently the number of confirmed cases has increased to 21 with one death recorded. Out of the number, three had no travel history or contact with an infected person, raising concerns of community spread of the virus especially in public places such markets and lorry parks.

In an interview with GBC the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Hajia Alima Mahama said the fumigation exercise will be extended to other regions adding that hand washing facilities will be provided at all public places.
