The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening its longstanding relationship with the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), as part of its broader agenda to enhance collaboration with key stakeholders in the energy sector.

Speaking during a courtesy call on the Chief Executive of the NPA, Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, Esq., the Director-General of GBC, Professor Amin Alhassan, underscored the Corporation’s readiness to continue doing business with the Authority and other partners within the energy landscape.

Professor Alhassan noted that GBC has been a pioneer in introducing dedicated energy news segments on national television, recognizing the critical role the energy sector plays in national development.

He recalled the Corporation’s collaboration with the Energy Commission, which marked the beginning of its commitment to covering energy issues more consistently.

“We started this journey with the support of the Energy Commission because we appreciated the importance of the sector. The NPA, being a key player in the industry, has always been part of that journey. We are here to rekindle that relationship,” he said.

Professor Alhassan acknowledged that there had been a lapse in engagement in recent times but expressed confidence in a renewed partnership, especially under the leadership of the new CEO of NPA.

“We recognise the circumstances that may have led to the slip in our relationship. But as you champion the reset agenda, we are also here to reset our relationship with the NPA,” he added.

The meeting, which took place at the NPA Head Office on April 29, 2025, also had in attendance the Deputy CEO of NPA, Dr. Dramani Bukari, along with senior officials from both institutions.

GBC reaffirmed its commitment to serving as a national platform for public education and engagement on energy-related matters and to supporting the NPA in delivering on its mandate
