The Right Reverend Dr Setorwu Kodzo Ofori, Moderator, Global Evangelical Church (GEC) has proposed that the Church established more schools to safeguard the future of children future.

He said the Church needed to assume the role of grooming children to grow into responsible and God-fearing citizens and not leave it to governments, which could succumb to foreign influences to introduce “unhealthy policies”.

The Moderator said this in a sermon at the 2019 International Convention Thanksgiving Service on Sunday themed, “Effective Discipleship: The Cross and Our Commitment.”

He said children with “childhood behaviour and childhood thinking” could not handle some subjects adding, “even adults including; church leaders sometimes have problems handling sexual feelings and we’re talking about six-year old, seven-year old” who would be eager to practice anything they learnt.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Ofori underscored the need for every Christian to remain committed in everything they did especially in their service to God, family and work saying that was the only way they could experience breakthroughs in their lives.

Dr Archibald Letsa, Volta Regional Minister said Ghana “is a sovereign state” and would take “sovereign decisions” without bowing to external pressures.

He however called on parents to educate their children on sexuality at home or risked their peers, internet and television educating them.

The annual convention saw members of the Church from Ghana, Togo and Ivory Coast converge at the GEC Bible Study and Prayer Group Retreat and Convention Centre, at Adaklu-Wumenu for the three-day encounter.
