Ghana’s Black Princesses delivered a must-win performance to beat South Korea 3-1 and keep their FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup knockout hopes alive. The 3-1 result in Group C lifts them to three points from two games, setting up a decisive final group clash with France.
Sarah Nyarko opened the scoring in the 52nd minute with a powerful long-range effort, and Ivy Osei Owusu added a deft chip just three minutes later to give Ghana a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Ruth Amponsah made it 3-0 in the 84th minute before South Korea pulled one back deep into stoppage time through B. Ye-jo.
Ghana began the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Ecuador, so this win was vital. They are now second in the group, level on points with Ecuador but behind on goal difference.
A positive result against France in the final group match could see the Black Princesses reach the knockout stage for the first time in their eighth U20 Women’s World Cup appearance.
