Ghana’s U-15 girls’ national team continues to shine at the CAF African Schools Football Championship, finishing the group stage with a perfect record after a convincing 3-0 win over Malawi at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The victory capped off an impressive run that saw Ghana top their group with 9 points from three matches, scoring six goals and conceding none.

“The goal was to get a perfect nine points and we got it,” said Coach Boatey-Agyei. 

They opened the campaign with a narrow but crucial 1-0 win against Morocco, followed by a solid 2-0 victory over Benin. In the final group match against Malawi, the Black Starlets were in full control. Coach Joyce Boatey-Agyei gave every player a chance to feature, showing the team’s depth and versatility. Jennifer Awuku opened the scoring, while Margaret Akosua Tawiah netted a brilliant brace to wrap up the win.

The coach also praised her players’ understanding of the game: “They knew what they had to do and that worked for the team. This is a morale booster for our players and a great message to our opponents that we haven’t come to play.”

The atmosphere at the stadium was electric, with strong support from the Ghana Supporters Union and even representatives from some local fans who came to cheer on both the girls and boys .

Their drumming, chanting, and flags turned the venue into a fortress of national pride.

Ghana is now set to face South Africa in the semifinals. The South African team has shown resilience throughout the tournament. 

Their strength lies in their midfield organization and quick transitions that allows them to score goals quickly.

Coach Joyce Boatey-Agyei is confident in her team’s ability to stay focused and stick to their winning formula. “The hearts of all Ghanaians are in our hands and we have to handle that with care and make them proud. We’ll stick to the game plan and exhibit good techniques on and off the ball so we can outweigh our opponents and clinch the trophy ultimately,” she said.

The stage is now set for a thrilling semifinal clash on Friday April 24 as Ghana prepares to continue their quest for glory.
