French Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg have confirmed the loan signing of Swedish-born Ghanaian defender Genesis Kofi Koranteng Antwi from Chelsea for the 2026/27 season. The 19-year-old right-back will spend the campaign in France to gain regular first-team experience after not featuring for Chelsea’s senior side last season.

Chelsea youth graduate with senior exposure

Antwi, who joined Chelsea’s academy at age 10 and progressed through the youth ranks, made two senior appearances for the Blues in the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League, coming off the bench in matches against FC Copenhagen and Djurgarden at Stamford Bridge. He was part of the squad that won the Conference League in 2025 and received a medal for his contribution, despite not playing in the final.

Strasbourg statement and pathway

Strasbourg’s official statement described the move as a development step for the Stockholm-born defender, noting he was “trained at Chelsea and won the UEFA Conference League there in 2025” and will join the group coached by Hugo Oliveira. The loan is intended to accelerate his progress by giving him meaningful minutes in a top European league after a season without senior action at Chelsea.

Contract and international eligibility

Antwi signed a three-year contract with Chelsea in September 2025, with an option for two further years, and has already represented Sweden at Under-21 level. Despite playing for Sweden in youth football, he remains eligible to represent either Ghana or England in the future, given his birth in Stockholm to Ghanaian parents and his upbringing in England.
