Ghanaians observe vigil to usher in 2019

Churches in Accra have ushered in the new year with the traditional watch night service.

Most of these churches used their watch night service sermons to offer advise to Ghanaians in order to have a fulfilled 2019.

Radio Ghana’s reporters Nathaniel Nartey and Hannah Dadzie visited a number of churches in Accra and report that as early as 7pm on December 31 2018, people could be seen rushing out of their homes to their various churches.

The streets, side walks and major bus stops in the city gradualy filled up with people nicely dressed, with their destination very obvious.

By 8:30pm most churches had begun with praises and worship as the auditoriums gradually filled up.

By 10pm, most churches were filled to capacity with others having to observe proceedings outside the church auditorium.

All the churches Radio Ghana visited has similar reactions to the stroke of dawn, when the new year was finally ushered in.

At the Lords Pentecostal Church International, the churches erupted in a prophetic prayer,At 12am on Jannuary 1 2019.

The General Overseer of the Church, Apostle Richard Boafo told Radio Ghana God is not only a 31st December God, and advised Christian to use the spirit of the new year to repent and attend church more often.

The Minister in charge of Garrison Methodist Presbyterian Church, Burma Camp, Rev Capt Paul Adjei- Djan advised Ghanaians to desist from acts that deprive the nation of development.

Lead pastor of the Cedar Moutain Chapel, Assemblies of God, Rev Dr Steven Wengam asked Ghanians to manage their finances.
