Ghana's Chief of Staff Calls For Inter – Africa Countries Collaboration

The Maiden African Tourism Leadership forum opened in Accra with a call from the Chief of Staff, Frema Osei- Opare for collaboration between African countries to enable them fully maximise the economic potential of the tourism sector.
Speaking at the Leadership Forum , Mrs. Osei-Opare, Akosua Frema said with the sector’s contribution of 33 percent to Gross Domestic Product, GDP in 2017, it is imperative that leaders of the region engage properly to make Africa a prefered choice for tourism.
She said there must be well outlined packages which would compel tourists to choose the region as a prefered choice.
She said although there are successful tourism industries in Africa, more needs to be done to ensure that all others are brought on board to build a strong front.
This year’s Africa Tourism Leadership Forum focused on inspiring intra- African travel through innovative leadership. Participants were drawn from countries including Kenya, Namibia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The two day forum begun with CEOs breakfast at the Accra Marriott Hotel in and continued with an intensive masterclass sessions at the Accra Iinternational Conference Centre.

Mrs. Catherine Ablema Afeku

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Arts, Catherine Ablema Afeku said the role of tourism in the creation of employment cannot be underestimated.
The sector she noted provides jobs for both skilled and unskilled individuals.
Mrs. Afeku called for cutting edge policies to hasten the pace of the tourism developmental drive.
