Ghana Anti-Corruption Initiative, the Ghana Chapter of Transparency International is developing  an interfaith training manual on anti-corruption sensitization and capacity building.

This move is in line with GII’s Interfaith project dubbed “Speak Up, Resist and Report Corruption” being supported by DANIDA.

At a validation session of the draft blue print in Accra, which saw the attendance of stakeholders, Executive Director of GII, Mrs. Linda Ofori-Kwafo said the interfaith training manual has been developed with the intention of providing a standard guide for Interfaith groups to carry out sensitization and capacity building of their members and the general public.

She envisaged a ”credible and standard document for use by Anti-Corruption campaigns with the hope of tackling the menace from the religious angle”, given that a lot of Ghanaians respond positively to issues when it come to their religion.

Mrs. Ofori Kwafo said she is optimistic the that the Manual will assist Faith Based organisations and civil society in general in raising awareness about corruption, training and generally capacity building.

It will also provide a good foundation for impacting knowledge and skills of faith based organisations, civil society organisations and partners in anti-corruption.

The Manual is being prepared by Anti-Corruption campaigner Charles Ayamdoo.

He pointed out that the provision have been made on the Whistle Blower’s Act in the manual and reminded all to take advantage of the Act to report corruption.

He said under the Act, the identity of the person who reports is kept confidential and in some cases even compensated if the discovery involves recovery of cash.
