Gov’t commits additional GH¢11m to fight coronavirus- Health Minister

Some Chinese nationals who arrived from China few days ago have been quarantined and are being monitored by National Security for any signs of coronavirus.

Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu who announced this at a news conference said all entry points are on high alert for any suspected case.

According to the Health Minister, the government as part of measures is setting up a 100-bed capacity facility at an undisclosed location to serve as a center to quarantine persons with suspected coronavirus infection.

The facility will be ready in two weeks.

Mr. Agyeman Manu added that Government has committed an additional 11 million Ghana cedis for preparedness efforts to deal with possible Coronavirus.

The government had earlier committed 2.8million Ghana cedis for the preparedness effort. Minister of Health Kwaku Agyemang Manu said they are working to get additional funding from the Ministry of Finance.

The commitment of the additional funds comes after the WHO in a report said the initial amount is not enough to aid in preparedness against the disease.
