Gov’t committed to expansion of infrastructural facilities-Education Minister

The Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has assured Public Institutions of Government commitment to expanding infrastructural facilities.

According to Dr. Opoku Prempeh, infrastructural facilities in all public tertiary institutions across the country, including that of University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho will be expanded by his ministry.

Answering question from the The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central, Benjamin Komla Kpodo, as to what plans the ministry has for the provision of additional  infrastructure for the University of Health and Allied Science, The Education Minister said “Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Education has signed an implementation agreement with the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China to undertake the China aided Central Administration and School of Nursing and Midwifery termed University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho, Phase ll Project”.

He said, The Phase II project will be located inside the permanent campus of the University.

Dr. Prempeh said, the total construction area is about 29,200 Square meters, including 9,000 meters of the Administrative Office Buiklmg 19,700 Square meters of the School of Nursing and Midwifery mlding’ 500 square meters of duty room and equipment rooms with tables and chairs, computers and projectors and other supporting facilities as well as teaching aids.

The project is expected to start in the second quarter of 2020 and will be executed within 38 months.

The Ministry through the GETFund has also been making budgetary allocations in the GETFund formula for infrastructural projects at University of Health and Allled Sciences, Ho, he noted.
