Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Benito Owusu Bio has stated that Ghana will continue to subscribe to the ideals and principles of the African mining vision.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 1st African Union forum on mining in Accra, Mr. Owusu Bio said there is the urgent need for African States to ensure the implementation of the provisions of the African mining vision conscientiously for the transformation of its economies”.
He added that the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) should also boost their role as facilitators, while respective countries take the bull by the horn and upscale adoption and implementation of AMV- policies, strategies and frameworks”.
Topics treated at the 3-day forum which brought together participants from 35 African countries, included Mineral- based industrialisation in Africa, Artisanal Small scale mining; emerging minerals, and livelihoods.
Benito Owusu Bio called on the participants to leave the forum with renewed determination to collaborate with each other.
