Guinness world records: Meet the record breakers

Guinness world records has been ongoing for decades, however, the 2018 record is about to end still there are interesting records that have not been broken yet but the 2019 edition is almost out with intriguing features.

To become a record-holder requires determination, extraordinary skills and commitment. Before applying for an existing record, check the current information and make sure you’ve got what it takes to break the record. See the world awesomeness. You can too.

  • Shortest married couple

The shortest married couple are Paulo Gabriel da Silva Barros (Brazil) and Katyucia Lie Hoshino (Brazil), measuring a combined height of 181.41 cm (71.42 in) verified in Itapeva, São Paulo, Brazil, on 3 November 2016.

Paulo Gabriel da Silva Barros measures 90.28 cm (35.54 in) and Katyucia Lie Hoshino measures 91.13 cm (35.88 in).

The couple got married on 17 September 2016

  • Shortest woman – living (mobile)

The shortest woman living (mobile) is Jyoti Amge (India, born 16 Dec 1993), who measured 62.8 cm (24.7 in) in Nagpur, India, on 16 December 2011.

Jyoti Amge was measured at the Wockhardt Superspeciality Hospital in Nagpur India on her 18th birthday making her eligible to take over this record from Bridgette Jordan. Jyoti Amge had previously held the title for the shortest teenager (female) living.

“Getting this record has made me feel better about myself,” said Jyoti. “I feel popular, special and important.”

  • Oldest bodybuilder – male

The oldest bodybuilder is Jim Arrington (USA, b. 1 September 1932) and was aged 83 years 6 days when competing at a professional bodybuilding competition in Venice, California, USA, on 7 September 2015.
Jim has been bodybuilding for over 40 years. He competed at Muscle Beach in a professional competition, placing 4th among over 60 contestants.

  • The longest fingernails on a single hand

The longest fingernails on a single hand – ever measure an aggregate length of 909.6 cm (358.1 in) and were achieved by Shridhar Chillal (India) on his left hand as measured in Pune city, Maharashtra, India, on 17 November 2014.

The nails are on Shridhar Chillal’s left hand and have individual measurements of:

Little finger : 179.1 cm
Ring finger : 181.6 cm
Middle finger : 186.6 cm
Index finger : 164.5 cm
Thumb : 197.8 cm

  • Tallest man-made structure on land

The tallest man-made structure on land is the Burj Khalifa (Khalifa Tower) which measures 828 m (2,716 ft 6 in) tall.

The Burj Khalifa officially opened on 04 January 2010 and was developed by Emaar Properties and architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP.

  • Longest fingernails on a pair of hands (female) – ever

The longest fingernails belonged to Lee Redmond (USA), who started to grow them in 1979 and carefully manicured them to reach a total length of 8.65 m (28 ft 4.5 in) as measured on the set of Lo show dei record in Madrid, Spain, on 23 February 2008. Lee lost her nails in an automobile accident in early 2009.

 

  • Longest fingernails on a pair of hands (female)

The longest fingernails on a pair of hands (female) belong to Ayanna Williams (USA), and have a combined total measurement of 576.4 cm (18 ft 10.9 in), as measured in Houston, Texas, USA, on 7 February 2017.
