More than 1,800 individuals have been recruited in an ongoing Covid-19 Phase 3 Clinical trials for the Sanofi vaccine in Navrongo, Kumasi and Kintampo.

Lead Investigator in the Clinical trials, Dr. Kweku Poku Asante told GBC News that the exercise is being conducted simultaneously in the 3 areas for a year with participants adequately compensated. Dr. Asante told Nathaniel Nartey that the trial focuses on persons who have not been vaccinated in the ongoing public vaccination by the Ghana Health Service.

“In total there are 600 participants that have been recruited from the 3 areas. It was important for us to identify persons who have not taken the covid-19 jab that is being implemented by the Ghana Health Service. This is because we do not want to give 2 vaccines, we want to be certain this vaccine works and if the participant has already taken the jab, it will be difficult to tell if this one will work”, According to Lead Investigator in the Phase 3 Clinical trials for the Sanofi Covid -19 vaccine, Dr. Kweku Poku Asante.
