A Tema based NGO, AbibiNsroman Foundation has added its voice to calls on the World Trade Organization, WTO, to temporarily waive the WTO rules of intellectual property monopolies on the Covid-19 vaccine, tests and treatment. This, according to the NGO will ensure vast increase in production at affordable prices to treat those affected and prevent the spread of new variants. The Founder of the AbibiNsroman Foundation, Robert Amitey made the call at a press conference organized by the Foundation at the Tema General Hospital.

The conference coincided with the 2nd Anniversary of the declaration of Covid-19 as a global pandemic by the World Health organization. Mr. Amitey also called on the WTO to make vaccines, treatments and tests available to governments and institutions at prices close to the true cost as possible.  The Director in-charge of the Tema General Hospital, Dr. Richard Anthony said as much as there are calls for a waiver on the WTO rules of intellectual property monopolies on Covid-19 vaccine, those who have not yet gone for their shots should not hesitate to visit the various vaccination centers to get immunized.

The conference was well attended by health officials and other social Activists.
