The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has donated medical equipment and consumables to the North East Regional Health Directorate for onward distribution to health facilities in the region.

The gesture, he said, is to bring quality healthcare delivery to the doorsteps of the people in the area.

Items donated include Anaesthesia machines, medical chairs, magnifying machine, electro surgical cords, and an X-Ray illuminator.

Receiving the items, the North East Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Abdulai Abubakar, described the move by the Vice President as timely.

He said most health facilities in the area are in dire need of medical equipment and consumables.

The North East Regional Minister, Zachariah Yidana, who presented the items to the Health Directorate on behalf of the Vice President called on leadership of the various health facilities in the area to make good use of the items.

An appeal was made to the people in the diaspora and benevolent organisations to support the newly created region with medical equipment and consumables.
