About 98% of the Ghanaian populace, have mental disorder but the question is how many are aware of this, since there is no system for people to check their status.

This need and many others prompted ‘Forever True Friends’ an NGO to create awareness and also call for urgent refurbishment of a theatre for the Pantang hospital.

Speaking at the launch of the project in Accra, the Chairman of the group, Cudjoe Awudi called on all stakeholders to get on board and help.

The Pantang Psychiatric Hospital is faced with  infrastructural deficit. This according to ‘Forever True Friends’ an NGO is very worrying hence the need to refurbish the hospital.

The CEO and founder of the Organization, Jane Garbs said the hospital is a general hospital and not an abode for people with mental disorder only.

She called for an urgent construction of a theatre.

For his part  the Chairman of the group , Cudjoe Awudi said although the Mental Health Act has been passed it needs to be financed by issuing a special LI to solicit funds.

A Midwife and Deputy Director of Nursing Services, Lina Anane Abebrese touched on some of the challenges.

About $300,000 is needed to construct the theatre.
