Call to operationalize National Health Quality strategy

A call has been made for the immediate operationalization of the National Health Quality Strategy to ensure improved healthcare delivery.

The strategy outlines, government interventions to improve healthcare delivery.

Deputy Minister of Health, Alexander Abban said this at a two day healthcare summit in Accra.

Each year low middle income countries record an estimated 5.7 to 8.4 million deaths due to poor quality healthcare delivery.

The healthcare summit enables policy makers and health professionals to initiate measures aimed at transforming healthcare with priority for patient safety.

Ghana is one of the few countries in Africa with a National Health Quality Strategy. Deputy Minister of Health Alexander Kojo Abban said the strategy seeks to ensure patients well being.

The Head of Quality Management Unit at the Ministry of Health, Dr Ernest Asiedu said taking actions for safety at various health facilities is a priority for the Ministry.

The summit was organised by the Africa Institute of Healthcare Quality,Safe and Accreditation on the theme ‘transforming and navigating healthcare quality and safety into the future’.
