Depression is leading cause of disability globally

Statistics from the World Health Organization indicate that globally, more than 264 million people of all ages suffer from depression, the greater number being women.

Depression is also the leading cause of disability worldwide and a major contributor to the overall global burden of disease.

A Medical Doctor at the Police Hospital, Dr. Adowa Nuro Panin made this known at the Tema Regional Police Ladies Association, POLAS Dinner in Tema.

She said depression can lead to suicide and therefore it must not be taken lightly.

She spoke about the risk factors of depression and its early signs.
