Dr. Akwasi Osei rejects calls to decriminalise cannabis use

The Chief Executive Officer of the Mental Health Authority, Dr. Akwasi Osei, says calls for the decriminalisation of some narcotics such as cannabis by advocates cannot be heeded to.

He said legalising these narcotics would lead to an increase in its usage.

Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, Dr. Osei, rather called for the decriminalisation of addictive behaviours, adding that, people with addictive behaviours should seek professional attention.

There have been calls for reforms in the country’s Drug Policy to decriminalise the use of some narcotics.
