Ghana launches national blood policy to ensure adequate supply

Government has launched a new national blood policy in Accra.

This is to ensure safe, adequate and sustainable blood supply for a healthy population.

The Minister of Health Kwaku Agyemang Manu, who launched the policy called for effective collaboration between stakeholders and health professionals to support implementation of the policy.

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Blood Service, Dr. Justina Ansah said the new blood policy is a reflection of government’s commitment to the ideals and aspirations of Universal Health Coverage.

She hoped by the end of 2030, there will be universal access to affordable essential medical services including blood services for a healthy population.
