The Ministry of Health has announced the successful acquisition of 33,600 vaccines to bolster the country’s fight against the spread of MPOX.

Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, disclosed that the vaccines form part of government’s proactive measures to safeguard the health and wellbeing of Ghanaians. He emphasized that the availability of the vaccines marks a significant step in strengthening the nation’s preparedness and response to potential outbreaks.

“This is another milestone in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our citizens,” the Minister stated.

The Ministry has assured that the vaccines will be distributed strategically to ensure maximum coverage and impact. Health authorities are also urging the public to remain vigilant and adhere to preventive guidelines, even as vaccination begins.

MPOX, formerly known as monkeypox, has been identified as a public health concern in several countries, prompting international efforts to curb its spread. Ghana’s latest move underscores its commitment to protecting public health through early intervention and effective health security measures.
