Government says it will in the next two weeks decide if Ghanaians who have already had their Covid-19 jabs will get boosters.

The decision comes after some countries including the UK, Germany, France and even some African countries have introduced boosters as a way of raising the national Covid Alert Level because of rising rates of transmission of the virus especially the Omicron Variant. Ghana’s Vaccines Stock now stands at about twenty-four million.

Yet, just about eight million doses have been administered.

About six million people have received their first dose, while two point three million people are fully vaccinated.

Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu on the sidelines of a programme in Accra said Ghana has already entered its fourth wave of Covid-19 infections. He encouraged Ghanaians to take the opportunity to go for their jabs as vaccine mandatory protocols will be introduced soon.
