Ghanaians in Denmark & Sweden donate over 8,000 Euros towards COVID-19 fight

Ghanaians in Denmark and Sweden have donated more than 8,000 Euros to the COVID-19 Fund, to aid Ghana’s fight against the coronavirus. Ghana’s Ambassador to Denmark Mrs Amerley Ollenu Awua-Asamoah presented the cheque to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed Habibu Tijani in Accra. Mr. Habibu Tijani appealed for more support from Ghanaians in the diaspora to complement government’s efforts at fighting the pandemic.

The donation follows an appeal made by President Akufo Addo to Ghanaians in the diaspora to support their home land in the fight against covid-19.

Ghana’s Ambassador to Denmark Mrs Amerley Ollenu Awua-Asamoah said “the Ghana National council of Sweden and the Council of Ghanaian Association in Denmark raised 8,272 Euros to aid government in response to President Akufo Addo’s appeal for financial support.”

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Habibu Tijani who received the cheque on behalf of the government of Ghana appealed for more support from Ghanaians in the diaspora.

“I wish to call for the solidarity and support of Ghanaians everwhere towards government’s covid-19 impact mitigating efforts for the well-being of our beloved country”

He said the amount has already been paid into the account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
