The Ghana Health Service (GHS) is worried that the country may risk recording high COVID-19 cases due to the disregard for the wearing of face masks.

The Service in a recent survey revealed that only 14.4% of the population in the Greater Accra Region wear face masks.

Speaking at a news conference in Accra, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, said there is the need for the public to adhere to the wearing of face masks during this period, otherwise the gains made in the fight against the disease will be fruitless.

Meanwhile, as of yesterday (August 27, 2020), Ghana’s cumulative COVID-19 case count stood at 43,841 with 42,246 recoveries and 270 deaths.

The number of active cases is 1,325.

Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye said only 72 new cases have been recorded.
