Government has approved the use of Astrazeneca and Spitnik- V vaccines for emergency use towards COVID-19 prevention.
An initial 350,000 doses of the vaccines are expected at the end of this month with full roll out to start in March. With the 20 million of the population targeted its efficacy is assured.
Speaking at a Public Engagement on COVID-19 vaccination roll-out plan in Accra, the Programme Manager, Expanded Programme on Immunization, EPI, at the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Kwame AmponsahAchiano stated that the prioritization of the vaccines was based on several considerations including safety efficacy and potential efficacy, cost of vaccine among others.
