Gov’t urged to commence 2nd phase of Ridge hospital to help solve no bed syndrome

Dr Emmanuel Srofenyoh, Medical Director of Ridge Hospital

Medical Director of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Dr. Emmanuel Srofenyoh has appealed to government to commence the 2nd phase of the hospital project to help solve the no bed syndrome.

The hospital currently has 420 beds which are inadequate looking at the number of patients that visit the facility daily. Steps have been taken to address the no bed syndrome in the interim, with the appointment of a bed coordinator by the management of the hospital.

This is to ensure that no patient is treated on the bare floor. Dr. Srofenyo told Nathaniel Nartey that the completion of the 2nd phase of the hospital project will increase the bed capacity by 200 and emphasized the need for it to commence immediately.

Dr. Srofenyo denied claims that the hospital lacks beds for COVID-19 patients. He said the hospital has so far admitted 10 COVID-19 patients in the last 24 hours.
