KATH appeals to President Akufo Addo to help secure hospital land

The Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Dr. Oheneba Danso has appealed to government to as a matter of urgency secure the Hospital land and also relocate the military residence to enable the Hospital to address its infrastructure deficits.

Dr. Oheneba Danso made this appeal at the sod cutting ceremony for the continuation of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital maternity ward project.

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital maternity ward project was started in 1974 by the Kutu Acheampong regime but the project was abandoned by successive governments, resulting in deaths of pregnant women and babies at the facility. Chief Executive Officer of the hospital Dr Oheneba Danso appealed to the government to help them to secure the hospital land.

The Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah commended the president for measures put in place to contain the Coronavirus. He also thanked the Asantehene for his role in the development of the region.

The Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu disclosed that contractual agreements that halted Fomena and Kumawu district hospitals have been settled and contractors have moved to the site.

President Akufo Addo reiterated his commitment to ensure quality Health care delivery across the country.  He also reiterated the need for Ghanaians to observe all safety protocols to enhance gains made in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The President also hinted that plans are far advanced to ensure that the military barracks is relocated to enable the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital continue its expansion to become a world class teaching hospital.
