Mrs Ruby Ago Ansah-Tagoe, a Nurse and Midwife at the Tema Health Center has disclosed that local douching kills the cells and nerves around the male and female genital organs .
Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show, she said the use of hot water on the genitals of new born babies in an attempt to cure wounds is a bad act and results in most erectile dysfunctions.
“One funny thing I ask my mothers, if there is a sore that never heals; you have it, I am having it. If your baby is having, what is the news?
Local douching also kills all the nerves around the penis” she stated.
According to her, children who go through the local douching grow up and do not perform sexually well (erectile malfunction).
She mentioned that there is a special medication for healing the genital area not the use of hot water and therefore urged new mothers or parents to seek the medically friendly way of douching.
She further stated that a kettle of warm water and two kettles of cold water is enough to bath a child.
She encouraged parents, especially mothers to desist from this act of local douching since it has negative effects on the babies.
