Much anticipated next batch of vaccines to arrive in Accra by August

The much-anticipated arrival of the next batch of Covid-19 vaccines will come late next month with another one coming in by August this year.

This will be available for those who were eligible for the second dose but could not be vaccinated.

Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu at a media briefing dubbed, Health Sector Performance Relations to Covid in Accra, said the vaccines are coming from the UK and US.

The other batch which are Johnson and Johnson vaccines he noted are coming from an order placed with the African Medicine Centre in collaboration with the African Union.

He said Ghana’s Covid Programme is steadily on course though the country has a few challenges with regard to vaccine acquisition from other countries.

Mr. Agyemang Manu gave further explanation on the recent brouhaha surrounding the acquisition of Sputnik V vaccines from Russia.

According to him, the effort to acquire more vaccines is one of governments priority and commitment to deal with the Covid pandemic.
