PPAG extends assistance to adolescents with pregnancy complications and sexual health issues

Adolescents with pregnancy complications and sexual health issues can now turn to the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana, PPAG for more assistance.

At the launch of YEN KASA, which literally means ‘Let’s Talk’ Call Center in Accra, PPAG said the platform has become urgent following the rise in teenage pregnancy due to Covid-19.

The call center has licensed Counselors to provide guidance in times of need.

According to a Ghana Health Service Report, more than 2,000 girls between the ages of 12 and 14 got pregnant in 2020.

These statistics the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana, PPAG say is not a good sign for Ghana in its quest to achieve the expected SDG targets on sexual and reproductive health.

It is in this vein that PPAG has opened a call centre where young people with reproductive issues, can get help from Experienced Counselors.

A Director at the Health Ministry, Dr. Affis Adams in a message from the Health Minister, said accurate and timely information on reproductive health issues can save a country and its people not only from diseases but also poverty.

This is why the YEN KASA initiative should be applauded.

Persons who call or access the platform are assured of the confidentiality of their information.

The YEN KASA toll free number is 0800202010 or 0245118228 for WhatsApp.
