President Akufo-Addo says the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic last year exposed the deficiencies in the health system of the country.

Due to this, government made an assessment and realized that the country needs 111 hospitals across the country, hence the Agenda 111.

The President said this at the groundbreaking ceremony for the beginning of the construction of 88 district hospitals out of the 111 at Trede in Ashanti.

The hospitals which are expected to be completed within 18 months will create 20 thousand jobs for health professionals.

President Akufo-Addo said the investment in the health sector is intended to improve healthcare delivery in the country and make Ghana the Center of Excellence for Medical Care in the Sub-region.

The Ashanti Regional Minister Simone Osei lauded President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to the country’s health care deliveries.

This he said will minimize irregularities in the system and make healthcare delivery easy.

The State of the Art Hospitals when completed will have the OPD, Maternity Blocks, Accident Centre, Mortuaries and Accommodation for the Staff.
