Private Legal Practitioner Martin Kpebu says Pejury-charges will soon be pressed against Minister of Health Kwaku Agyemang Manu, for the botched Sputnik ‘V’ Vaccine contract between government and the Private Office of Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum.
For him, the Minister is guilty of perjury by stating the vaccine has not been paid for when indeed payment had been effected.
He said when found liable the Minister can face expulsion or suspension by parliament.
Mr. Kpebu was speaking on our current affair Programme FOCUS which discussed the Sputnik V Vaccine investigation and matter arising.
MP for Akatsi South and a member of the ad hoc committee of Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor observed that there is no justification for the action of the Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu, irrespective of the exigencies of the time.
He said the ad hoc committee which investigated the case cannot be faulted for not proffering sanctions against Mr. Agyemang Manu, because it is a fact-finding committee.
Mr. Ahiafor recommended that the issue be referred to the Special Prosecutor.
Contributing to the programme, Director of Communication of the NPP and Former MP of Adenta, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, said in mounting pressure on the Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu to resign over the botched contract, the context of the decision making must not be overlooked.
He said the Minister was operating under pressure to deliver in the interest of saving lives.
Mr. Asamoah said in analyzing the issues there is the need to factor in whether or not the Minister had willful intent for which he avoided relevant processes for personal gains.
