Researchers in Ghana coordinate moves towards finding vaccine for Covid-19

Research Institutions and Vice Chancellors of Ghana Public universities are working steadily on various researches to deal with the novel coronavirus.

This was disclosed at a meeting between the Minister of Health and heads of the universities and Research institutions to update the Ministry on what they are doing to find a possible vaccine for the disease.

Joining the discussion via zoom, Chairman of Vice-Chancellors, Ghana Professor John Gyapong said since the virus arrived in the country in March, universities have been at the forefront of the fight.

He said they are not relenting in their effort at finding a possible vaccine to fight Covd-19.

He asked that as they work towards this agenda, their initiatives should be backed by the necessary resources to make it a fruitful venture for the country.

Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman- Manu said coordinating all researches by public Universities will play a critical role in government’s policies to help sustain the fight against the Coronavirus especially in the face of second wave of the outbreak of the pandemic in the world.
