Residents of South La, are appealing to government to urgently start the reconstruction of the hospital. They say life has become difficult because of the absence of the hospital where they do petty trading and receive medical attention.

The facility was pulled down due to its dilapidated nature.

President Akufo Addo cut the sod in August last year for the reconstruction of the La General Hospital estimated at 68 Million Dollars.

The Hospital was pulled down due to neglect and lack of renovation for the past 60 years.

The walls of the facility which used to serve the community and its environs have been extended probably to stop encroachers.

The bare land has been cleared of weeds and the debris with the four gates to the place locked up.

An Opinion Leader of the community, Samuel Briamah said the delay in the reconstruction of the hospital is causing untold hardship to the people

Mr. Briamah urged government to speed up processes for the project to start.

The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu explained that the cause of the delay in commencement of the project is due to the insistence of the contractor for insurance cover before he moves to the site which will be resolved soon.

The project when completed will be a referral point and will be equipped to undertake major surgeries.
