The Ghana Health Service Workers Union has raised issues with the stimulus package announced by President Akufo-Addo for frontline health workers.

According to the group, the package does not include some essential health workers such as laboratory technicians, cleaners and administrators, although they are also at risk of contracting COVID-19.

On Sunday, President Akufo-Addo announced a three-month tax holiday, an additional allowance of 50% of basic salary per month for the next three months for health workers and an insurance package of GHC350,000 for each health personnel and allied professionals at the forefront of the fight against COVD-19.

Additionally, a daily allowance of GHC150 was announced for contact tracers.

Speaking to Host Ibrahim Kwarteng on news and current affairs programme, ‘Behind The News’, General Secretary of the Union, Reynolds Ofosu Tenkorang said without the services of those left out, health workers cannot work effectively.
