The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union has requested investigations into alleged improprieties against the Management and Boards of the National Investment Bank, (NIB), and the Agricultural Development Bank, (ADB) to clear all doubts about unfounded allegations in the two banks.
Speaking to journalists in Accra, the General Secretary of the ICU, Solomon Kotei said the investigations, if properly carried out, could restore Stakeholder and Customer confidence in the banks.
Mr. Kotei urged the inspectorate division of the Bank of Ghana to ensure that it’s work alongside external auditors are not compromised, adding that issues of non-publication of accounts in the two banks is a major concern that is affecting their fortunes.
These, Mr. Kotei said must be cleared before any recapitalisation issues.  He said the recapitalisation, if it eventually goes on must be done in accordance with the Central bank`s new minimum capital requirement.
Mr. Kotei asked all quasi- government institutions and other business entities that have closed their accounts with NIB, to return as they are assured of safe and secure business.
The ICU General Secretary appreciated government for heeding the Union`s petition to allow NIB and ADB to maintain their individual sovereignty and to continue to perform their core mandates.
