Interior Ministry imposes Dusk to Dawn curfew on Bole following renewed chieftaincy clash

The Ministry of Interior has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Bole in the Northern Region

The Ministry announced the imposition of the curfew in a statement issued Monday evening, following a renewed chieftaincy clash between two factions.

One person was confirmed dead and two others injured.

The incident which happened early Monday morning has also led to the burning of several houses.

Reports say many people have fled the town.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command, DSP Mohammed Yusif Tanko who confirmed the incident said the police received the report at about 12am Monday.

He said one gate in the chieftaincy dispute, Mandari was celebrating the Damba festival and it was alleged that some people from the Alhaji Abudulai gate fired into the crowd killing one person and injuring two others.

They also allegedly returned fire hitting one of the guys from the Alhaji Abudulai gate who was injured.

The injured persons were taken to the hospital but the police officer said: “this morning we had a report that the man from the Alhaji Abudulai gate died at the Wa Government Hospital.”

He said the police and military are on the ground to ensure peace and security and engage the feuding factions to resort to peace as well try to find the perpetrators and allow the law to apply.
