Japanese Embassy set to hold 2018 Japan Week Festival in Ghana

The Japanese Embassy is set to hold 2018 Japan week Festival, which is scheduled for Saturday November 3 to Sunday, November 18 to showcase various Japanese Cultural and Traditional activities.

 Japan Week Festival is an annual cultural event organized by the Embassy of Japan to promote cultural exchanges between the Ghanaian and Japanese communities.

Speaking on GBC’s Uniiq FM Breakfast show, the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Tsutomu Himeno disclosed that there will be a series of activities to celebrate Japanese culture through sports, (Judo, martial art and Karate championship), and Yosakoi dance festival and dance exchange program and among other social events.

 He further explained that the “Judo” sport which literally means a way of flexibility enable one to relax by relying on the strength of your opponent and the “Karate” is fighting with empty hands, without using any weapon.

 The full schedule of events for the celebration are as follows:

 Saturday, November 3 will be the Japanese Ambassador’s Judo Championship at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Saturday November 3 will be Friendly Baseball Matches at the Labone Secondary school

Friday November 9 will be the First Japanese Cultural day at the Mary Star of the Sea International school.

Saturday November 10 will be Ghana-Yosakoi – Japan Festival at Ghana Police Headquarters.

Tuesday, November 13 will be the Dance Exchange programme at the St Peters Secondary School.

Thursday, November 15 will be the Japanese Culture Day at the Center for Asian Studies, University of Ghana.
