Japanese Nano Technology Company to establish plant in Ghana

The Ghana Standard Authority (GSA), is collaborating with Japanese Company, M-TechX International to initiate standardisation and commercialisation of Nano Technology across all industries in Ghana and Africa. The Technology involves the use of fibre for oil and gas and medical cleaning.

Speaking to Business News at the launch of its warehouse in Accra, the Business Development Director in charge of African region, Terry Owusu Agyei said the Company intends to establish a plant in Ghana, hence it would partner waste management companies to collect plastic waste materials generated as raw materials for the production of Nano fibre.

Mr. Owusu Agyei noted that, M-TechX want to change the status quo and introduce a technology that is still in its research face and the first company to commercialise Nano fibre in the world.

He added that the company is investing in Ghana and they are collaborating with the government, Ministry of Trade and Ghana Standard Authority to establish a production plant in Ghana which will produce and export the product to the rest of the world.

The Nano and the magic fibre can be used by the hospitality sector and for cleaning dirty oil.

“The Director of GSA, Prof Alex Dodoo said the production of Nano fibre will help Ghana tackle oil spillage and also help to control fire at filling station,” adding that, “the technology will help address the current arrangements where filling stations use sand to control fire at the stations.”

He pledged the GSA’s commitment to support the company to educate Ghanaians on the benefits of the Nano Technology, as the operation will lead to the creation of jobs.

M-TEchX Ghana is currently carrying out demonstrations on the use of the Nano technology at fuel filling stations a it seeks to acquire certification to begin commercial production next year.
