Premier League Management Committee Chairman, Alhaji MND Jawula, has graded the management body “A” in his initial assessment of the ongoing 2019/20 Ghana premier league.
The ten-week-old league has registered some interesting accounts since the season started such as the 726, 380 huge record gate proceeds that were gained from the super clash between Hearts and Kotoko in week six, the sensational victories chalked by Berekum Chelsea over Hearts, Kotoko and Ashantigold making them the giant killers of the ongoing campaign as well the new twist of entertainment from Legon Cities delighting supporters with the performances from music artistes during their matches.
The recent addition is the seemingly fierce but fascinating competition brewing between Aduana’s Yahaya Mohammed and Inter Allies sensational striker Victorien Adebayor for top scorer at the end of the season.
currently, the duo are tied on ten goals after ten games. The former president of the Ghana football association indicates in spite of the low belief in him when he was given the mandate by the Kurt Okraku’s administration to head the body that will work on Ghana’s elite football division to bring it to its glorious days, they have done a marvellous work thus far.
Known in the Ghanaian football circles as Lepowura, he has admitted there have been some few mishaps his team is on track to changing the fortunes of local football.
”At the beginning of the league people were wondering what else I was going to bring on board when my name was mentioned but you know we are quietly working within the corner. I told people we are going to get the crowd back to the stadia, I said we would do our best on crowd violence, I said there will be zero tolerance for acts of referees and other match officials. We will not be a hundred per cent but if anybody should do a good assessment we should be scoring an “A” at the moment even though the league hasn’t gone too far.”
Alhaji also feels teams like Kotoko who got themselves into a bit of trouble after the conducts of their supporters against Chelsea might have learnt their lessons. He, however, expressed delight at the 63rd-anniversary match that will be played in London between Hearts and Kotoko he believes that will be another impetus for the league.
