Ghanaian striker Jerry Afriyie has become one of the most talked-about young prospects in Europe, with clubs in England, Spain and Belgium closely monitoring him ahead of the 2026/27 season. The 19-year-old, who recently returned to Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah after an impressive loan spell in Belgium, is now at the centre of a growing transfer battle.

Strong Belgian loan spell raises his profile

Afriyie spent ten months on loan at RAAL La Louvière, where he made 31 competitive appearances and accumulated 2,497 minutes of playing time. He scored five goals and provided one assist, with his pace, movement, finishing and work rate marking him out as a standout young attacker in the Belgian Pro League.

Match against Club Brugge puts him on the map

A defining moment in his loan came in a match-winning display against Belgian giants Club Brugge, a performance that drew strong attention from scouts across Europe. That game underlined his ability to influence matches against top opposition and boosted his reputation as one of Africa’s most promising young strikers.

Interest from England, Spain and Belgium intensifies

While several Belgian clubs are keen to bring him back, interest has also grown from teams in England and Spain, making his next move one of the most intriguing Ghana-related transfer stories of the summer. His technical quality, physical profile and tactical intelligence have made him an attractive long-term project for clubs in multiple top leagues.

Black Stars future still in the picture

Despite being overlooked in the latter stages of Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, Afriyie remains on the radar of national team selectors. A move to one of Europe’s leading leagues is expected to strengthen his credentials for future Black Stars call-ups as he continues his rapid development.
